Lumina Care was launched by Ged Brew, whose own personal experience with home care motivated him to want to transform the home care industry. Seeing first-hand the struggles and challenges faced by his own parents as they sought to find quality, trusted care for his grandparents, Ged embarked on a mission to build a care agency that puts individuals and their families first.

Meet the team
Rebecca Pinder – St Helens
I started my career working in a laboratory when I was 16, straight after leaving school. My role was laboratory technician, and I was based at AHK for 5 years.
My father-in-law became unwell and I spent most of my free time looking after him. After his triple heart bypass surgery, I realised I wanted to pursue a career in the care sector.
I started working nights in a care home, and eventually changed to day shifts. I worked my way up the ladder from Health Care Assistant to Senior Care Assistant, Team Leader, Acting Manager and then Deputy Manager. I’m now the Registered Manager at Lumina Care St Helens.
I have completed all aspects of care from domiciliary care calls to supported living, complex care and many more aspects of care services. I have also completed levels 3 and 5 in Adult Health and Social Care.
Working in the healthcare sector is very rewarding. Yes, it can be challenging, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! Working at Lumina Care St Helens was the best move for me, and I truly enjoy working here. Lumina Care feels like one big happy family where we all support one another.
Zowie McMillan – Warrington
My name is Zowie McMillan, and I am the Registered Manager at Lumina Care Warrington.
I grew up with various family members suffering from a range of illnesses, so I always knew I wanted to be in the care sector.
I started off as a community care worker and then decided I wanted to go into special needs. I started by studying Health and Social Care, and found a role working in a special needs school.
I then decided that I wanted to go back into the community, and returned to community care work. I progressed into a supervisor’s role, and later became a Care Coordinator. Again, within a short period of time I was made the Registered Manager.
I studied and completed my Level 5 in Management and Leadership. I am dedicated to my role. My aim is to achieve a better quality of homecare services for our local communities.
I work closely with several other health professionals in the Warrington area. We all work together to make our community a better place for those needing support.
